What replaced KALIA

CM-KISAN replaced KALIA in September 2024. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the scheme in Sambalpur on Nuakhai, 8 September 2024, "replacing the Kalia scheme of the previous BJD government", according to a PTI report carried by The Week. The first instalment went to nearly 46 lakh farmers.

The state's Standard Operating Procedure for registering farmers under CM-KISAN and PM-KISAN, published on the CM-KISAN portal, sets out the benefits:

Applicants must be permanent residents of Odisha. The procedure also excludes minors, families already represented by another member, income tax payers, government and PSU employees and pensioners, registered professionals such as doctors and lawyers, and farmers without a valid ration card. Payments go by direct benefit transfer to the beneficiary's bank account.

Which documents the CM-KISAN portal asks for

The procedure lists four document copies as mandatory for online registration.

Before you register, the procedure says you must complete three steps:

• Register in Krushak Odisha and update your land records there.
• Link your Aadhaar number with your bank account at your branch.

Step by step: prepare your documents

1. Scan each document flat. Use daylight, a plain dark background and a straight-on angle. Avoid flash glare on the passbook and the ration card. Scan to PDF captures and crops pages in your browser.
2. Keep one document per file. Put the front and back of a card into one PDF with JPG to PDF, but do not mix different documents unless the form asks for that.
