PDF to GIF renders every page of a PDF as a GIF image at 150 DPI. The colours are mapped to a fixed 256-colour palette with extra greys, which keeps text and line art clean. A one-page PDF gives one GIF and longer files give a ZIP. It runs in your browser, free and with no account.
Step by step
Drag a PDF into the drop zone or click Choose a PDF file. The conversion begins right away; there are no options to set.
Each page is drawn at 150 DPI, its colours are mapped to the 256-colour palette, and it is saved as a GIF. The progress bar shows the page count.
Click Download. A single-page PDF gives one GIF with the same name; a longer PDF gives a ZIP holding one GIF per page, numbered in page order.
Features
Forty extra grey levels sit beside a 216-colour cube, so black text, grey anti-aliasing and simple coloured charts convert cleanly without speckled dithering.
GIF compresses flat areas well, so a page of text is usually much smaller than the same page as BMP, and any browser or old viewer can open it.
Rendering and GIF encoding both run in your browser, so the PDF never leaves your device while the images are produced.
Each page is drawn in your browser at 150 DPI on a white background, then every pixel is matched to the nearest of 256 fixed colours: a 216-colour cube plus 40 shades of grey for anti-aliased text. The result is saved as a standard single-frame GIF, one per page, for PDFs of up to 40 pages.
GIF can hold only 256 colours per image, which is why it is still accepted almost everywhere and why it suits some pages far better than others. Text, tables, forms, flowcharts and logos use few colours and come out crisp and compact. Full-colour photographs are the weak spot: smooth gradients such as skies and skin tones show visible bands, because no dithering is applied to blend the palette steps.
For pages that are mostly photos, PDF to JPG keeps the full colour range at a smaller size, and PDF to PNG gives lossless images for screenshots and slides. When the receiving software needs raw bitmaps instead, use PDF to BMP.
Each run takes a PDF of up to 40 pages. Long reports can be divided with Split PDF before converting. To go back from GIF images to a document, GIF to PDF builds a PDF with one picture per page.
The PDF is opened and every page is drawn in your browser, on your own device, and the GIF files go straight to your downloads. The tool is free, needs no account and leaves no watermark on the images.

GIF allows 256 colours per image and this converter does not dither, so smooth photo gradients show steps. Text and diagrams are unaffected. For photo pages, PDF to JPG keeps full colour.
No. Each page becomes its own single-frame GIF. A multi-page PDF gives several still images, packed together in one ZIP file with the pages numbered in order.
Pages are rendered at 150 DPI, which makes an A4 page about 1240 by 1754 pixels. That is sharp enough to read small print on screen.
Up to 40 pages are converted per PDF. Split a longer document into parts first, or extract only the pages you need, and convert each part in turn.
No. Every page is rendered onto white before the colours are mapped, so the GIF has a solid white background and looks the same in light and dark viewers.
GIF suits pages of text, line drawings and flat colour, and very old systems that expect it. PNG keeps the same crisp text with millions of colours, and JPG makes the smallest files for pages full of photos. Use PDF to PNG or PDF to JPG for those cases.
